If marijuana is made legal, I would support. Though I don't smoke pot and have no use for it, it is not in the business of any government to regulate the private behavior of others. Marijuana use to some is a vice, but a vice is not a crime. The use of this drug is done by people who seek happiness with their lives. As long as people who use the drug do not infringe upon on the natural rights of others, their use of marijuana is a private individual concern, in which the drug user is completely sovereign. Any attempt of the government to stop a person from using pot, or making the use of this drug illegal, is an infringement upon the rights of the user and it is a completely illegitimate use of government power. To deprive a person from smoking pot, would be to deny such a person his pursuit of happiness as enshrined in the Declaration of Independence. That is why I would support the legalization of marijuana or the decriminalization of it.

yes because we are supposed to be free in this country and not have the religious or moral beliefs of others dictate our laws.

There are many FDA approved medicines that are far more dangerous and even say on the label they can cause death

Tobacco has an even higher rate of cancerous chemicals

The fact is we allow many things more dangerous and more intoxicating such as alcohol and the only reason left is morals.

Making it legal would also free up the police from harassing the average Joe or person with cancer and instead they could get the violent criminals.

Making it legal would take less money out of the gangs and drug lords hands because it would be cheap and available on a legal market

Typically smoked marijuana contains 4 x as much carcinogen as tobacco.

Marijuana is also an addictive drug, studies have shown that people can become addicted to marijuana after taking it as little as 12 times.

Marijuana increases the risk of schizophrenia with the chance of getting a mental problem increases to 25% with as little a 16 times taken.

The Smoke not only contains dangerous chemicals but also anti-oxidants that age the smoker.

The benefits are that marijuana makes people impotent. The toxic chemicals increase your cholesterol levels in the blood increasing the risk of CHD. So you can't have kids when you either go crazy or die young.

It's easy to say YES to this question until you look at long term implications. We drew the line on drugs with tobacco and alcohol partly because of heritage and also to the fact that legalizing MJ could pave the way to harder drugs. Big question: Just where do you draw the line on allowing drugs?

Yes. I don't understand why it's illegal now. You can smoke cigarettes (kills you), you can drink alcohol (kills you), but you can't smoke marijuana (kills you). Makes sense right? Besides I've smoked it plenty of times, and it's not all that different to me than getting drunk, which is perfectly legal. I don't smoke it anymore, I had to make a living and ambition + marijuana = no money. All drugs should be legalized, taxed, and made available to the public. It's not the governments job to protect me from myself. There role is to protect me, and my stuff, from everybody else.

I would decriminalize possesion of it, but lean heavily on driving under the influence of it. We already have enough problems with drunks. I feel legalizing and taxing it is going to make for a loooot more screwups behind the wheel than we've already got.

No brainer my friend; I would legalize pot because our beloved leaders has used it to lock up my(63yrs.) generation and on and on down to the present one. It's a way to sort out those who might question their authority and they fear it's ability to make peaceful citizens out of violent ones thus rendering them useless for the war machine. I'm a bit biased as I've had my life destroyed by these ridiculous restrictions on our constitutional right to take whatever steps we need to medicate for illness of many kinds. I've watched alcohol and tobacco kill of at least half of my family while the only people who ever died of pot were 1. one who laughed himself to death 2. the one who scratched himself to death. 3. the one who ate himself to death. 4 the one who screwed himself to death... We Americans need to llighten up and stop being so stiff and scared of everything that's different ... Check HARRY ANSLINGER in the wikipedia and you will find an interesting story. I know for fact that my parents generation smoked it and their music speaks thereof in jazz records of the thirties and fourties. Why our parents were such hypocrites is a very puzzling question for me. I'm ashamed of them, but I don't condemn them as they have condemned me an 100s of thousands of people for a harmless weed.
