Who ever thought the 2nd Gulf war would have been such a wonderful success that it has?

I was sure hoping that it would be. I remember sitting on the edge of my seat (i can't remember if it was late 2002 or early 2003) watching/reading the news every night hoping that we were making progress. I don't have to sit on the edge of the seat anymore because I know we are.

The value of the dollar is the lowest it's been in a long time, and we've got record deficits. We're borrowing money from China and giving out huge paychecks to mercenaries because we don't have enough troops without enacting a military draft. Wall Street is the only place that can maintain cash flow while homeowners from middle America and the Social Security fund feel the pinch. That is the opposite of a booming economy.

I will admit that the surge has created an atmosphere where it's a lot more difficult for insurgents to operate. However, it's all for nothing if the Iraqi troops and government don't take the opportunity to get their act together. It will only be a success when Iraq is self-sustaining and we've managed to extract the bulk of our troops.

Car bombs in the market isn't my idea of a booming economy.

Are you serious? The economy is booming? We are winning in Iraq? The war is suddenly a success? Most americans don't want us to get out of the hell whole? Please, please tell me this is sarcasm.
