How do I make gil on FFXI?

Question

I have been playing FFXI off and on for a while... I get on the game cuz the game play roolz! But I get off of the game because making money sux!
I am giving it one FINAL chance, before I drop kick the HDD in my PS2 (after taking it out of the ps2) to make sure I NEVER get back on.
I'm sick of farming for items. I can't even give you an estimate on how many crawlers i have killed for silk thread. I wouldn't mind farming mobs if it didn't take 30 mins to two hours to craft one thing to have it most likely blow up in my face.
What is a way to make money and get out of this stupid farming for hours a day. I don't mind time consuming ways, but everything I have tried is ridiculously time consuming. I work enough in real life, I don't need that in a game.
I just want to get back to the focus of the game, which is to have fun killing mobs with a party. The actual game play is the best any MMO can offer, but the in game work load to be able to continue that sux.

I am against RMTs so I will NEVER buy the gil!

In Bastock, Sandy, or Windy - look for the Magic Shops

buy the basic spells - like Cure Dia Protect (white) DIAGA
Black - Fire Aero Water Stone

first see what they are selling for at the auction house
(bid) - history
and then go purchase some - and put them up - especially on
Thursday - as this sets up for the weekend

I have Mules in all three cities -

so I move the goods around

Note: you will always get the better price where you have the most fame - so if Sandy is home - go out the Port entrance
and go to the right(instead of left to the AH) and before you go down the stairs to the BIG square - take a right and go down the curved stairs to the Magic shop

BTW - when you farm - kill everything and rotate your monsters - i.e. crawlers, rarabs, birds, etc - don;t just focus
on crawler-cralwer-crawler - - - the computer remembers
and will freeze you out - and make it more difficult to get a drop

Yo can make a couple hundred by doing quest for the taru taru if you are in their area and things look for quest and ask around the area to NPCs in bluidlings like markets and what not someone even gave me 25000 gil. So ask the people in your aera that are like running it in teh main bliuding or something people at gates have quest sometimes two it just take some looking around I woudl start by asking at the gate then going to the main bliuding and when you start you can alwasy get usefukl information form the guy who comes and talks to you.
