Try this!
Step one
What you will need!
Drawing material, Poster board, Marker, Crayon, The Internet

Step Two
Imagine what your poster can look like. Think a bit!
Subject is math which leads to science, brains, Einstein, Atomic bomb? Communication, Stock Market
Write in different size lettering, big and small on poster

Step Three
Look up these things on the Internet.
Draw the images you find on the Internet. Trace the images if you like. Draw them randomly on the poster with different sizes

Step Four
Draw radiating lines and patterns in other areas. The idea is you want to draw on the entire space. Draw X's O's Number's, Makes some lines thicker, highlight areas.

Step Five

Step back and look at your drawing. Color in spaces, leave no gaping wholes. Areas that look weird color over. Your modern poster should be completed. Good luck!

I can't take credit for this tutorial. Here is a link the describes the actual process. It's actually pretty cool!

A few years ago, I did a book cover for a math curriculum, directed at children. It was titled, "Math Power for Life."

I did a collage of images, including candy, electric guitars, and a kid, wearing a helmet and posed in front of a high performance, military jet.

The theme was to represent the skills needed to be able reach goals, whether to earn money to purchase material goods, or to acheive ambitious goals in life.
