Well he's good but he is not the greatest.

Pistol Pete was tops when it comes to scoring back in college but he just couldnt win a championship even iirc, against on a relatively weak NIT competition (Honestly, if you want to play in a tough college b-ball tournament in the 70's, you play in the "UCLA Invitational Tournament", otherwise known as the NCAA).

Compare that to a certain Louisiana native who averaged twenty plus numbers in points and rebounds while leading his small college alma mater, USF, to back to back NCAA championships. Along the way this guy's team dominated Tommy Heinsohn and the NIT champions, Holy Cross; prevented John Wooden and UCLA, as well as Pete Newell and UC@Berkley from winning championships, and compile a 55 game winning streak.

Oh, this guy also won 5 MVPs and 11 rings as a pro.

I've seen videos and I know they say that the things, the unique moves and tricks players do now are all modeled off of him. My dad says it looked like MJ got his playing style from Pistol Pete .
