No it is not a good use of tax paers money. They knew she was coming back and on what plane - she would hardly come back to do a runner. To plain clothes and taken out via backdoor would have been enough - armed police - good grief!!!!

Perhaps you are right, but she is a fraudster, as is her husband, and would one would accord the same hands off treatment to say Ronnie Biggs, i think not. I know Biggs was a great train robber, but don't see this as any different. Also i wonder with all the interviews she has been giving to the newspapers whether she has benefited by that financially.

The Darwin case attracts a lotta media attention so lots of coppers want to appear on TV, turning their best profile to camera.
As for good use of the taxpayers money; when did the taxpayer EVER get value?

The press love to dramatise these things as much as possible ....look at the bbc website ....there were uniformed officers that walked her off the plane ,she was not placed in handcuffs but simply walked off the plane ...why so many officers ? to keep the large number of press away that why .....overkill ? hardly ....Why were they armed ...look around at any airport all the uniformed officers are armed ....It wasnt just for her !!
dont believe everything they put in the newspapers !

Publicity for the police. A lot of media there so they think it tells the nation "Hey look here we are doing our job." Try getting them to turn up when you call them to deal with vandalism or other low profile crimes.

Typical news hyperbole. I suspect any extra police were there to control the press frenzy.

Probably to protect her from the army of press that would be waiting for her. Also, it would be a bit embarrassing if they lost her.

would that "taxpayers money" be different to the money defrauded from the insurance companies, which we all end up paying for?
I admire her for facing the music, but did you notice? she wasn't in economy class!
