Howdy folks you may remember that I posed the above question a couple of gazillion days ago. I have decided to call it quits and am in the process of sorting things out - nothing has changed- she is still not working.

As funds are limited at this stage does anyone have any advice as to a source of reasonably cheap legal advice. Is CAB [citizens advice bureau] an option? not that i have one where i live. Any help (advice) would be appreciated. I thought that i could work it through by talking but it literally fell on deaf ears so i am taking the only option left even though it is going to cost me half of the house [to which she has had little input] - in the vicinity of some 200000 once everything is settled.
At the end of the day it is peace of mind, health and sanity which hopefully will prevail.

Sorry to tell you this but she will always be a lazy wife. There is nothing you can do or say to make her get off her ass. . .You are doing to right thing by moving on but it is going to be a long hard road, YOU need someone by your side that is going to help you ...mentally, emotionally and financially. Sounds as though she is taker and not a giver. Marriages that are financially secure has the best chance of survival. I would not and could not continue to let her be a leech and I would do what I have to do to stop it. Even if their were children involved, that would still be no excuse for her being lazy. There are just some women that sit on their asses and do nothing. I for one, can't stand it. You ever heard the saying, the best way to get on your feet, is to get off your ass and that is meant literally. . Good luck and I know you can come through this in one piece. . .

Well that sounds like my old man. I just spent 12 years raising his kids which are my stepchildren. He had no input on their raising he was never around and now the kids are grown and he wants to kick me out because I can't get a job. It's not that I don't want a job but we're in the country and I have no reliable transportation to get me to a job. How long have you been married? Was she working when you married her? There's a lot of questions that need to be answered before you can get a really good answer. She may have just been a golddigger and you fell into her trap. Man if I knew I'd get paid 200000 for raising his kids I'd dupe him in a New York Minute.

some women are old fashioned and think the husband should provide for her, while she cooks for you and cleans up after you... she is one of those women... did you not know this when you married? either accept her as she is or get a divorce, but, beware, no woman will trust you ever again...

start selling things -- tv's, stereos, computers, the second car.. and put the house up for sale -- and when she asks "why?" let her know you can't afford them anymore because living on one income just isnt enough.

if she wants a car, computer, tv and other things, she might get up, wash her butt, get dressed and go for interviews?

i don't know what else to say, short of asking her to move out?

If a good talk doesn't work, then I guess Divorce papers would do.

Call it "buying your freedom back". It sucks but would you rather be stuck with her all your life?
