Nope. It's -1

-4(-2x-6)=16

divide both sides by 4

-1*(-2x-6)=4

multiply the -1 to the numbers in the parenthesis

2x+6=4

substract 6 on each side

2x = -2

divide by 2

x = -1

-- 4 (-- 2x -- 6) = 16
=> x + 3 = 2
=> x = -- 1
