The future may bring much better results than did the past:
You may find love, happiness, and peace.
You may have writing published, paintings sold, an invention patented, become head of your company...so much more.
You may have children to love.
You may just win a jackpot or the Lottery!
You may make new and better friends
You may find a new line of work; a much better life.
Life is so very short, anyway...why would anyone want to cut it even shorter?

Getting a massage is enough reason for me. Then there's chocolate. And sunsets. And the way the air smells when it snows. Getting to help someone!
The future is an adventure, you don't know what you'll find around the next curve. But you WILL find something good if you keep going. That's the reason to stay alive.

The hope that maybe one day you can figure out the meaning of life. The hope that maybe one day you will find a purpose or person who will make you want to live. That life is a gift given by God and if you end it without living it out to perform the purpose of why you were born, it is like someone who has a home choosing to sleep in the streets instead. Why throw something precious away, which may result in not being given that gift again if you don't make use of it. It's like someone giving you a sweater for a gift. You wear it a few times but then decide you don't want it anymore especially after you see others wearing nicer sweaters yet oblivious of many others who have uglier ones, so you throw it away and the giver knows you did this. Not only will they not give you a nicer gift next time, but you may not even get one again! If you appreciate the gift and do the best you can with it, you may end up getting an entire designer wardrobe!

Stay alive for you. Give yourself a chance at life. If you're suicidal then this is as bad as it gets. Stay alive to see what happens next.... Aren't you curious about what is going to happen in the next few weeks, months....years? Life is transient in nature bad days don't last forever, neither do good days but be emotionally strong and try to live for something bigger than yourself. Be a fountain of love.

these are of course different reasons for everyone. if you have a goal in life like a career then its that. if you love your family then you want to be around them. if you have supportive friends then you want to be able to share in their laughs and tears.
i can't pretend that life is always great but sweet things are only sweet because there is a sour.
you don't need to have all the answers and its good you have questions just don't let them overwhelm you. i mean philosophers have spend millenia trying to figure out this question.
the question really is why wouldnt you want to stay alive? you never know what tomorrow may bring for this too shall pass (good and bad things). eventually you will pass on but not here not now. just try to take it one day at a time. coming from nyu where there are lots of needless suicides each year i can only implore you to think what you would be giving up. no waking up in morning to see the sun or swim in ocean or laugh at movies or curl up on couch on rainy day. instead it will be nothingness. you have the right to pursue happiness, don't give it up.
actually i went through a crazy depression during middle of college with not knowing what i wanted to be and who i would end up being. i thought everything was never going to settle and i was worthless. you just have to believe you are worth having life. that what defines you isnt grades or if your parents think you are obediant or if your friends think you are cool...or any other superficial things about yourself. you are a good person and you will be productive member of society...don't take yourself out of it just think of all the bad people floating around we need more good to keep the balance.

Always remember you were a "Gift, a gift from God, and God don't make no junk."
Every day is a new day, a chance at a brand new start.
If you do good things for other people from the sincerity of your heart you will find that by giving or doing you will find you feel better about your self.
Just look around you and see so many people who are in worse shape than you, see if you can make a few changes and you will see what a difference you can make.
Believe in yourself and you will see that other people will also belive in you.
Respect yourself, and others will respect you.
Show yourself friendly and others will be friendly.
Happiness is a feeling, we can accept it or reject it, we make that choice every day.
