Why on earth would you want to drive that route?

The vast majority of people take public transportation such as trains and buses.

If you must drive, the toocoo website; there's a Mazda rental company at Narita :
http://www2.tocoo.jp/?file=rentcar_inbound/branch_list_all2&listname=prefecture&prefecture=12

Tolls might be around 3000yen but I can't remember.

The costs of tolls plus the cost of rental, plus the hassles of driving in tokyo plus the costs of parking would equal more time and money lost then just taking public transit.

I do not suggest you drive.

if you are travelling on orders, you have priority in getting a seat on the Narita bus from base to the airport. If you are not on orders, you can make a Space A reservation( not once was I ever bumped being Space A btw) no buses, but you could rent a Car from bldg J-196(across from the Lodge) and get easy to read directions on the toll roads.. takes about 2 hours. there are two different train routes.. KHK and JR. the JR one involves no transfers, buts it's a black train and therefore takes about 3 hours plus the lovely walk past the Park/mall along the wan. KHK is a green train, but you will have to transfer at least once, I think at Shinagawa. the cost of the train is actually prohibitive if more than 2 adults are traveling(cheaper in the long run to rent a car and get the toll passes) traffic sucks 24/7 in and around Tokyo, and you have to go past Tokyo to reach Narita.

They will have a travel info desk at Narita airport for travelers, I would suggest to go ask them.... They can direct you which car rental company they should go to, and they will have many pamphlets and handouts....

About the tolls, some express highways have tolls but if you take another route (not highways) then you can get around that, but of course it takes longer to travel. Japanese tolls are ridiculously expensive in my opinions, since I am used to paying only like a dollar for toll. But again the info desk should be able to answer this question too!
Listen to the radio when you get there to figure out how much of a traffic you will be expecting. If you can take the public transportation then do that. You don't have to take the Narita express, regular train would take longer but cheaper.

If you are looking for the most relaxing way to get from Narita Airport to Shinjuku, may I recommend JR Narita Express. It is a train which will go where you want to go with very few stops. I referenced a web site online for you. Keisei Skyliner is also a good train, however, it goes to Ueno Station, not Shinjuku.

Don't bother. Japanese city traffic is exceptionally crowded, and unless you speak Japanese, even with satellite navigation you're going to get lost! Along with the tolls, parking in the city starts from 100 yen for 20 minutes. Get the train or a bus (or even hire a taxi if you don't want public transport) and it will work out much cheaper and much faster.

Don't try to drive if you are jet-lagged, take the Skyliner or NEX.
