this happened in a burger king in vermont. i just cant believe that someone working at burger king would do this. i am leaning more towards the customer who bought it or someone he knows played a joke on him

from what i read, no injuries just hurt feelings. he says that he not doing it for the money, but meantime he is suing for money. lol.

do you think burger king will settle or does this guy have a case?

I too lean towards the customer having "planted" the object. I read the report and the way the customer was so overly specific in his explanation also brought that suspicion. His lawyer says he passed a lie detector test but what does that really prove since it isn't admissable in any court action.

A few years ago a woman found a finger in a Wendy's chili and sued. There was a long investigation that checked the food chain all the back. No supplier for Wendy's had any work related injuries, no Wendy's employees were missing fingers so where did the finger come from? Turns out this wasn't the first scam this woman had pulled. It was learned the finger was supplied by her husband and planted in the chili. The two of them were arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced to long jail terms for this fraud.

Wendy's was vindicated but do you realize how much sales this store lost due to this claim. Once the claim was publicized, sales at this one store dropped 50% and stores in the area dropped also in double digits. The cost to this Wendys franchise and to Wendys overall was estimated to be in the millions of dollars.

Burger King will feel the same effects this time. Scams like this happen all the time. I hope they choose to fight it until investigation reveals that settling and getting it out of the public square is the prudent thing to do.

Any chance of this being a fact, the company will settle. The case of the finger was with Wendy's and in chili, it was investigated and found to be a planted finger that was severed at a construction site prior to the ff visit.

i am not sure . if it happened , he probably will win. he can go to jail , if he lied and it didn't happen. there was a similar case , i think the person said they found part of a finger or something in fast food. sorry i can't recall the details. turned out to be a hoax but the company sued and legally they were prosecuted . don't remember what charges where / details. sorry , alzheimers :-)

It was on last night's news here - the story is that the customer planted it himself looking to gain some quick money.

Well, at least you can't catch an STD from eating it! (Unless it was used before it was put there).
