Probably a police helicopter monitoring traffic or a crime scene in the vicinity. The description you gave sounds like a police helicopter. Also, please be aware that when you're looking into the sky, your eyes are essentially focused on infinity since there's no object to focus on. Ask any optometrist, they'll tell you the same thing. Military pilots trained in "aircraft recognition" for literally months of ongoing training during WW2, couldn't visually judge in-air aircraft ranges well enough to clearly state their distance. Unless you are VERY familiar with the look and size of an aircraft (as in highly trained and practiced like a military aviator), there's no real way for you to know the "actual" distance of an object that appears in a blank-field background like the sky. A helicopter hovering 50 feet in the air, requires a lot of energy. If it were really only 50 feet above your house, you would probably be minus a few roof shingles. Yes, many FAA records are public information.

i live in a small town and we have a small airport and my house seem to be right where the planes angle down toward the landing strip. I live about 1 km from the airport itself. lol annoying sometimes.police helicopters fly around here allot i think they are looking for grow ops.

Those are likely police helicopters, or air ambulances. Student pilots don't usually do circles around residential areas.

We have helicopters flying over several times a day, some of them are headed to hospitals.

Nope. There are planes flying over my house, but they're so far away they don't make noise.
