Heroes should inspire us with their altruism, character strengths, and by overcoming adversity. Celebrities entertain us. The difference should be huge.
The fact that the distinction has become so obfuscated recently is very sad indeed.

Hero is someone that you look up to who made a difference in the world who is not afraid to take risks, and fights for good
Celebrity will just entertain you on television or music that's it they get paid for it
