Well actually i'm trying to help my mom out. I want to sound professional. I could use some help. Starting from the Dear whoever to the part where i go sincerely the name. or however else it should be. I don't know what type of membership it is. Do I even need an excuse. My mom just doesn't feel like working for that company anymore. She says she pays 100 bucks a month for membership.. thats all i know. So can you start me out with some template to write the letter. thanks.

It's easy.
You don't have to be flowery or formal about it.
You don't have to say why or threaten a lawyer.
"Dear (Blank):
Please cancel my membership with (Company), effective (Date). (And if it's a bank draft or credit card automatic debit)) ... Associated drafts/charges will no longer be accepted by my (bank/credit card).
Thank you.
Sincerely,
(Mom's name)"
She has to call the credit card or bank to stop the automatic payments.
Threatening a lawyer comes later if they don't stop charging her.

I will give it a try right from the start, I took a business course and learned how to write letters.
date
the places name and address
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
I am writing to let you know that I would like to cancel my membership at your company. I no longer wish to be a member. This is my 2 (two) week notice.
Because you said it is her job she would have to give atwo week notice, I do believe.
You can add anything else that may need to be added, I hope this is a good start for you. After you get that body of the letter done go down about 6 to 8 lines and type:
Sincerely,
type your Mothers name
get her to sign under the Sincerely There you go I hope that is helpful. Good luck to you and to your Mother. God Bless.

Dear Crappy membership company,
I would like to cancel my membership with your company, as i don't want to pay $100 a month. I don't feel that it is worth my money i could use my money in better ways then just give it to you guys for something i don't use. I do not ever recall singing a contract with your company, and if you would like to have a dis agreement about that i can have my attorney contact you. Thank you very much for your time.
Sincerely,
2nd commander's mom
you don't really have to have a lawyer just threaten one!!! my husband (before we were married) signed up for a membership one time of some sort, and i e-mailed them and told them that i was representing him, and if they didn't refund his money i would see them in court, i got double his money back for him
i also have sent several e-mails for my mom and gotten great responses when using a threat of lawyers.....companies must be scared of lawyers...i cant imagine why!!!

Before you put anything on paper, find out what the $100. per month is all about. What does your mother get in return for her $100.? Is it something that is sponsored by the company? Are you sure that this isn"t a pension plan of some sort from which your mother may benefit ? Never make a decision unless you have all the facts and from the sound of your question you know nothing. Sounding professional won't hack it! Once the picture is clear then you will have the information to proceed. Just make sure it isn't a scam and that your mother wasn't convinced by someone to sign.

Can you give more information? It sounds as though she is an employee when you say she doesn't want to work for a company anymore.
If it's not employment but truly a membership, like a gym or club, you need to know if she signed a contract with them; if so, refer to that to see what to do to get out of the relationship.
