To "Yo" I'm in college here in Missouri, some people do say "Missour-uh" in the state, but not all. In fact there was a poll at the state fair once, and 2/3rds wanted it pronounced as Missouri.

I say Missouri.

But people who have been here forever, generally if they're more country, will say Missour-uh. Everyone on my moms side of the family does. I bugs me. They also call the vacuum a sweeper...lol.
If your going to say anything other then Missouri, then let it be Misery. It seems like thats all thats here for me.

I always said Missouri, until I made a friend from there and she said Missour-uh. I complied when she was around just to make her feel at home.

If one lives in this state as I do, then we pronoune the word:
Mizz-or-ee. The outsiders and tourists say Misssz-ooor-rah.
The trainees stationed at Fort Leonard Wood say Mizzeree!
