What can I do to keep a seashells color from fading?

I just got back from the beach, and found a bunch of gorgeous shells I would love to put on display in my home, but I've heard that shells lose their color once they are away from the salt water long enough. What can I do to keep them bright?

spray them with a can of clear coat,keep them out of direct sunlight

Try putting clear nail polish on them. That's what I did and all mine are fine! Good luck!
