ok first off.
halo 3 is not gonna be on PC for a long time. halo 2 for PC barely came out for VISTA only. but other newst games, i would wait a bit for the graphics card that are comptible for direct X 10's price to drop./ u can get a graphic card that are good for 150 bucks and play all sordsn of games. however, the newst direct X 10(i dont think its out yet but u should buy a graphic card that is compatible with it) is not compatible for many graphics card. a card that is compatible would cost like 200 - 300 bucks or even more. i would settle for those. get a nVidia card that is compatible with directX 10/ u wont regret it. and in my opinion, u got a REALLY shitty processor. celeron is garbage now days. its not worth to give it 4 gb of ram. i dont know how much u paid for it but u better sned it back. trust me. celeron just doesnt work any more. u need ATLEAST a pentium 4. atleast... maybe one that has HT technology. the average new PC woud have core duo or core duo 2 precessor. those will cost u maybe 600 - 1000 bucks (a new computer that has that CPU).
and if u dont know much about computer, u cant change cpu eazily, rams are easy but... a gig ram would cost u about 80 - 100 bucks. \
the best thing for u to do is, return ur garbage (my bad) computer, and get a PC with a core duo precessor, u should have atleast 2 gb of ram if u want to play those games. (u can get 2 1 gb ram of 1 2gb ram the second choice costs more i think) and maybe spend 300 bucks on a graphics card.
it will come out about 1200 bucks for a new PC.
talk to me if u need more help.
trust me dude. a new system is gonna help. u dont need sound card unless u have a good speaker. a nice computer game speaker would go 120 bucks.(i recommend logitech 5300e. its 5.1 surround sound and a sub thats gonna blow ur house up)
HAVE ATLEAST 1000 BUCKS READY IF U WANT TO PLAY THOSE GAMES. I SAY U BUY AN X-BOX360 AND GET HALO3. BETTER GARAPHIC .
AND MAYBE KEEP UR OLD COMPUTER FOR EVERYDAY WEB SURFING. .
THERE IS NO POINT IN HAVING SUCH A GOOD COMPUTER IF U R NOT GONNA USE IT FOR MUCH ANYTHING ELSE.

You'll need a whole new system. Older systems used a different socket for the CPU, which means you can't upgrade that, you're stuck at 1.8 ghz. You might be able to upgrade your RAM, but on the slower CPU and AGP graphics you won't be able to play much that's newer than 2 or 3 years, even on the lowest graphics settings.
When computer shopping, if you want to do games, you'll want to look for these things:
At least a 3ghz Intel or AMD processor, get dual core if you can, or quad core. At least 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, 4 is even better. You'll want a Sound Blaster for the best sound, not one of the cheap no name knockoffs. For video, you should get a GeForce 8800 GTS, or 2 if you want even better graphics performance. All told this system will run you upwards of a thousand dollars. Keeping up with gaming is expensive.
I recomend you find a local computer shop or a friend who knows the field to build you a custom rig, if you have the money. If you don't have the money, save your pennies and get real acquainted with abandonware on your current machine :)

First of all the 'basics.' How do we upgrade? As far as I know, it the motherboard, which forms the base, rather the chipset the motherboard supports. I would suggest a motherboard supporting PCI-Express. For that, you have to CAREFULLY study the manual of the motherboard, if available; otherwise go to the relevant site and check what processor and graphic card it supports. Then you can go in for an Intel or AMD processor, (or any other), that satisfies your needs. For that please go through comparison charts available on most sites. As for RAM I would humbly suggest for a branded one, and 1GB (you might see 512 MB fall short of requirements). As for HDD please go in for at least 80 or 160 GB. They are very cheap now. And please do not overlook other components. A graphic card of at least 64 MB, a DVD Writer, a branded Power Supply, a finely ventilated cabinet, and the thermal grease for application between the processor and the heat sink. I do not know what monitor you have, but even that should be considered along with the keyboard and mice. I will suggest for wireless ones, so that the strain in the eyes (a PC is not a natural product, and like all inventions carries many hazards!) is taken care of. If you use the PC for talking to others or listening to songs in solitude, then a headphone has also to be considered. All this, assuming you already have the Operating System of your choice.! All the best.

Unless you know how to replace a processor, which is really hard with manufactured comps because u need to find out if the motherboard is compatible with the CPU, no u can't get the 3 ghz.
1Gig Ram, u could probably.
what's 4gms?
I would just buy a whole new PC if I were you because that PC ain't gonna handle newer games well, especially because the CPU is going to bottleneck any graphics card you buy.

I am sorry, but with it being 4-5 years old, there is no way to upgrade the processor to the 3 ghz speed. You may upgrade to a 2.3 ghz by calling DELL, and purchasing a new processor from them. You can increase the memory to 1 GB but you have to buy it in pairs of 512 mb.
Good luck.

You should be able to upgrade the RAM to 1GB, but you will need a new motherboard if you want a faster processor.

it would be cheaper to buy another system rather than upgrade what you have... so sell you'res and put the money towards a new sytem.... that's the best advice you will get...
