Excellent question.Would I stop something that would impact everyone,like 9-11 or V.Tech,or would I use the opprotunity to prevent a personal tragedy,or just improve my own life somehow?I really don't know...

i would go back in time and kill mary, preventing jesus from being born and saving all the countless lives lost over religion.
in the process this would also probably stop Islam from being created since Mohammed's faith was influenced by Christianity.

I'd stop myself 4 years ago and tell me that I shouldn't get this job (the one I still have) because it sucks, is boring, you have to put up with all sorts of bull, and the kicker?
"They'll try to fire you a little over a year from now."
That way, if I did still decide to get the job, I'd prevent my demotion...which was, I might add, the end of my (relatively) high morale.

Me getting Married to that violent, abusive sociopath of an ex. I ALWAYS Regretted that short disaster of a marriage ... because NO ONE thought enough to tell me that he was NOT right for me .. and that he had DEFINITE Mental Health Problems/Issues.
