Are assumptions based in prejudice?

Judgments don't have to be based on assumptions, they can be based on observation and judgments that surround us. We should judge people only based on our imagination, but on the real knowledge from research and opinions.
However people still tend to make judgment on assumptions, maybe because it is our feelings or emotions, fear or anger. However if you search for further, you might find information that you never even imagined.

Of course! I am finite, and I have a tendency to "not know". That is, I, and the rest of humanity have not discovered everything there is to know, so our knowledge tends to be incomplete. This causes us to be circular; I cannot deconstruct any judgment to a point where I am convinced that I have thoroughly covered the entirety of the judgment. Eventually, I come upon an assumption. That assumption is most likely the foundation of my judgment. We cannot know everything about anything, therefore, we must accept some things without explanation, thus my judgments are based upon some assumption.

I believe I must define prejudice before I answer the second question, I'm not sure what "prejudice" you are asking about. However, I will assume (what a coincidence) that you mean prejudice as an opinion formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge. If this is the case, than yes. That is, if "sufficient knowledge" is a complete knowledge. Again I cannot know everything about anything.

P. S. Unfortunate isn't it?

Yes some times. I think everyone is guilty of it at one time or another. Assumptions are not just based in prejudice. Ignorance also plays a part.

To have.. no judgments would mean that you were naive. If you are naive you wouldn't be able to function in the real world. Would prejudice actually flow into an assumption sure, I think that WE are inundated daily with things we should like, things that WE shouldn't like, things that are bad for us, good for us.. and on and on.. we either listen.. or we don't.. but either way... WE are already (*by the time we are adults*) left with little that we make up in our own head, and more so just the mirrored opinions of those who raised us under the guise of making us good people..

Not always; sometimes judgments are based on facts. Assumptions aren't necessarily based on prejudice because assumptions aren't always negative. I might assume I can continue to trust you (judgment) because you haven't let me down yet (fact).

I try not to judge. I try to understand. Striving to understand removes the "I" and can then be free of prejudice. I think that assumptions are based on prejudice, that is why I try to avoid them. :)

yes to all of your questions. before you can judge something, you must have some knowledge about it. how can you judge something you do not know about? your knowledge of things can come from two things, namely previous experiences (a posteriori) and the innate knowledge (a priori). your assumptions are based on your previous experiences. it is from your experiences that you make your judgments of things. from the past judgment of things, you make prejudices of the other things to come that seemingly has a connection to the past experiences.

No. Though your question alludes to an observation from a thinking person who knows that truth is hard to get at, because there are veils that mask the truth.
No, because you will continue making attempts to find out the truth. Wont you?
