Rotation question?

How would rotation help an object as it falls? Why is it helpful to do this? What about torque?

I don't understand the question.

Are you referring to cats who want to land feet first? To falling spacecraft who want to slow their descent by taking up the energy as rotational kinetic energy as well as simple translational kinetic energy?
