I'm getting a PS2 for Christmas and have no idea what kind of games I should get. I'm not really into games but would like something that would present a challenge, mentally, for me and still be fun. Not just a "fighting" or shooting game. Something that has a point or a goal that I have to work for.

Two standout games for me on the PS2 were Ico and Shadow of the collossus. Both made by the same company. they are two totally different games in terms of gameplay but are both simply brilliant. Great puzzles and adventure. Really worth looking into. Nothing quite like them. I am sure others would agree.
Ico involves navigating a castle as a young boy, leading a girl around by hand and overcoming obstacles. very touching storyline.
Shadow involves roaming a land on horse-back (beautifully done) searching for these mythical giants and killing them in order to save the one you love. Each of the giants presents a challenge as to how u must overcome them. Best PS2 game ever.

maybe. 1 - Mission Impossible,
Basically, the whole game is sneaking around between guards and if they find you, hit them till they become un councioius and hide them in a dark spot (so other guards don't see him)...
etc..The game is Amazingly fun, unless you get stuck :( or you got board cause you don't know what to do.

2 - Burnout..any of thier series...maybe Burnout:takedown..
Its a car game with a little twist...When you crash, the crash is realistic, and tells you how much damage (in dollars) did you cause... Look for gameplay videos of it, you'll see what I mean, it is reaally fun.
3- Shadow of the Colossus, I dont have this game, but I heard it was Amazing!

I highly suggest getting the Kingdom Hearts games. Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 were amazing games! The storyline for Kingdom Hearts 1 was amazing!
