I really get uncomfy watching those movies that depict how Earth and mankind takes an asteroid slamming onto the planet--and the horrific after effects of such a natural disaster.
We're supposed to have an asteroid buzz by Earth--and have it come around and hit the South Pacific 20 or so years from now. I sure hope those NASA guys have a solid plan for preventing such a collision.

The movie that disturbed me more than any other was "Elephant", which was an extremely realistic movie about a fictional school shooting. I've never felt more on edge and uncomfortable in my life than I felt while watching that movie.
When I was younger, though, "Poltergeist" scared me a lot because I looked just like the little girl in the movie. I thought that since she looked so much like me that all the scary stuff in the movie could happen to me (note that I was about 7 years-old at the time).

Take me seriously here. The two movies I've seen as an adult that were so scary as to be disturbing are:
The Vanishing (the original European version, NOT the US remake with Jeff Bridges and Kiefer Sutherland -- Hollywood changed the ending because, well...)
The Believers (w/Martin Sheen) [maybe just "Believers"]
The Shining is probably my favorite horror movie, but it was also enjoyable to watch. It's harder to say that about the two I've named above.

Fahrenheit 9/11. The Bush creature really freaked me out. And how come the movie was narrated by a talking whale? Dude, that was too weird!
