Here's a YouTube clip of an interview that Oprah did with Larry King where she explains why she is endorsing Obama and how she feels about Hillard. Do you find it enlightening? From a feminist point of view, do you approve or disapprove of how she handles talking about HIllard?

Tera: That was a tiny clip out of an hour interview. So I don't think it's a fair to criticize her for what she didn't say without seeing the entire interview from start to finish. You could be right, but you could just as easily be wrong.

Oops, sorry about the spelling error. It's late at night here. I do know Hillary's name. My husband has her bumper stickers plastered on the back of his wheelchair.

Tera: I just tried to find a longer clip but I'm not having any luck. I did find an interesting clip of Dr. Maya Angelou talking about Hillary. I may post that tomorrow. Maya, for those who don't know, is a very good friend of Oprah's.

Ms. Sophi... I agree with your take on the money. Oprah skirted that question and left herself open to support the democratic nomination, no matter who wins it.

Jon: No I didn't deliberately misspell Hillary. I live near a town named Hillard and this late at night I make dumb mistakes.

What strikes me as odd about her "endorsement" is that she never actually says anything specific at all about why she endorses him. All the while that she talks of her support of him, she refrains from making any eye contact whatsoever with Larry King. While looking away the entire time, she says she supports him because she KNOWS him. That's all she really says. What does that say? Nothing. She does not even state what it is she likes about him. And further, she states that she does not oppose Hillary. She says she has nothing negative to say about Hillary whatsoever. She also states that she is not contributing any money to Obama's campaign. So basically, I feel Oprah (at least in the clip from the link you provided) evades answering anything substantial whatsoever, one way or another. I just thought it odd that she had nothing specific to say about Obama (since she's publicly endorsing him). If I were as rich as Oprah, and I had the chance to monetarily support the campaign of someone I TRULY felt would be the best candidate (and someone I thought could change the world)- I'd contribute. I'd put my money where my mouth is, esp. if I thought he was going to be such a great leader. But she isn't doing this, and it makes me wonder, why not?

EDIT: Well yes, I commented on the link YOU provided. That's all there was. If you wanted us to comment on the hour long interview, perhaps you could've posted that instead. And just for the record, her name is not "Hillard." It's Hillary.

Sorry, I'm feeling a bit crabby tonight. However, I reserve my right to be a critical thinker. You're right, maybe I'd have a different impression if I saw the whole hour long thing. Hard to say, since the only clip you provided was just a few minutes long. But the observations and questions formulated in my mind based on what was given. I will say that I think it's awesome that she did not put Hillary down. I think that's very respectable.

I do not see any connection with feminism here I am afraid. My take on this clip is: Oprah is a Democratic voter. No matter who wins the Democratic nomination, they have got her support already. I also think, that she is waiting to see who will end up winning it at the end, before she starts putting her money where her mouth is. Oprah is a great business lady, no one could take that away from her. Now, she has a personal friendship with Obama family, and therefore she speaks out in his support. However, she will support either one of them, when the time comes.

I like how she handles talking about the two candidates. She says she has nothing bad to say about Hillary and she supports Obama without being too emphatic about it. I believe she likes the both of them, with maybe a lean towards Obama because she knows him personally and it would be a real change in the US government if they had an African American president.

i'm so bored stiff with that. relatively, Oprah probable would not understand her eastern because of the fact the eastern observe for "obama" interprets to "between a horse's tail" (aka its butt). If the yankee's are dumb sufficient to vote for a guy whose final call is an insult in yet another united states, the eastern will in no way enable us to stay it down. they are going to be making relaxing individuals for an rather very long term.

If I had a TV I would watch Ellen, anyway.

Are you deliberately misspelling Hilary?

Oprah and Obama both need to give it up. I won't vote for him and I don't know anyone who is planning to, either.
