My cable internet is down a lot. The modem shows that it can receieve, but cannot send.. The send light for the modem is flashing. I then always have to unplug my cable wires, turn off the modem, then replug the wires, turn the modem back on like 4 to 10 times or more before the internet will work again. Then the internet would only work for 1 hour max, then is down again. Thus, I have to re do the process off unplugging wires, turning off ect. What can be wrong? Is it my modem that is defective or is it something wrong with the cable wires?

I know it isnt my router, i have unplugged for the router, and connected directly into my computer, internet is still down...

It is the cable connector. You need a wire tech to come out from your cable company.

Two ways to fix this:
Your modem might be broken, u need to contact your cable company for a repalcement of a new modem
You might be having torjan spywares in your computer, buy an anti virus fire wall. Norton might be the best choice.

i had this identical problem with my cable access, and no its not your modem........your cable company is dropping service on you and you will need to fight it out with them.......i was right on the verge of changing providers when the problem suddenly ended, so i am still with my isp (charter)
