i owe someone around $40. im still a student and i can't work. how do i tell the person that i will pay him when i have the money. how do i tell him not to tell my parents as i will repay him back?

Just be straight-up with him, make sure he knows that you will pay him back when you can, or even say that you will pay him back in parts as much as you can afford when you get it untill it's paid of, just don't leave him in the dark and don't not talk to him, i'm sure he won't tell your parents if you explain eveything to him and keep him informed... good luck

Tell him what you told us. Or bite the bullet, borrow $40 from your parents, and make an arrangement to work it off.
You should not borrow money when you have no source of income to repay it.

What is wrong with the truth? just tell him the truth and keep your word. The truth will be here when the world burns.. even after the 40 bucks is paid back and spent again. I hear that it takes courage to be honest.. I suppose the question for you is.. are courageous or not?.

This is why I don't ask for money. I don't want to be in a situation where I owe people money. You should tell him the truth. It's not good to lie. If he trusted you with money then he should trust you to tell the truth.

$40 is not that much money and there is no reason you can't pay it back. Collect aluminum cans, pawn/sell something. It is very important that you pay this debt any way you can.and soon. If you are honest in what you say he will listen.

try to make money the best way you could like selling stuff besides its only $40 bucks....( i sold a broken nintendo ds on eBay for $41 before)
