you can try Society's expectation and ideals of a women and how they are percieved. Relate it to the 17th century of how women were percieved as subservient to men and how it relate to the modern world (like women adopting men's last name or women stay at home job as housewife..etc.
Then argue how men depends on women and how we are valuable and in fact does have power.

Women sex offenders.

My ex did a study on this a few years ago - Leeds University, England published a book in the mid 90's.
The vast majority of women sex offenders are women who have had consensual relationships with teenage boys (so statutory 'rape' - difficult in most countries as it is not the definition of rape), if you want to go really controversial you could go for women who are predatory paedophiles, but I have never been able to find evidence of any that didn't play second fiddle to a man - though that might not matter for your purposes

Depends how 'controversial', I guess. You could try something like feminist sex workers.

This is a fairly controversial area among women I know, because many feel that sex work is the basic oppression, whereas others believe that taking control of your work makes a feminist statement, regardless of the nature of the work.

For example, one argument goes: all work involves an employer 'using' a person's labour, so how is sex work different from a feminist perspective?

Cheers :-)

How about a report on the misogynist right-wing bias of people who answer questions on Yahoo Answers? Blech.

Clearly controversial is the continual backlash on the feminist movement brought by conservatives who see continued female success and equality as a threat on traditional Judeo-Christian values. Activists had to work hard to achieve near-equal funding for for medical research on diseases that effect women, equal pay for equal labor, and the like, and now that the days of blatant oppression are in the past and inequalities are more subtle, complex, and nuanced, anti-feminists have a much easier time of saying "quit your bitching!"

You will NEVER find any accurate research that says that women are better off than men in Western society, let alone threatening the rights of men.

Deep water oil drilling. We need the oil but after the British Petroleum disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, it is a controversial subject. It happened in 2010 and caused a lot of damage to the ecology and global finances. It is not based on morality.

Here's something controversial: "How will the next generation perceive women?" I have a friend who thinks that the new crop of children will eventually laugh at the idea that most women once stayed at home.

Should Women 'quantify' or 'qualify' their importance in the work place? Put simply, are you able to justify your worth to your employer, and the salary/ wage you take home? That always gets things going at parties.
Cheers.

Do you live in the US? If so, a great topic could be something along the lines of female presidents (the lack thereof, and the prospects of changing times)...?

What about IQ and gender? There seems to be a lot of debate on which group as a whole is smarter.
