my friend posted some pictures of a myspace celeb naked, except the naughty bits were censored. the celeb in question was a minor at the time she took the pictures, and is now pissy that they're posted.. if you can't see any of her private parts, is it still illegal?

Bad taste is not a crime, but sometimes it should be.

There is a right to privacy and your friend does not own the pictures. The celeb owns the rights to the photos, since she took them.

Tell your friend to get the pics of the web.

yes, it is illegal
unless the censoring is clothes that were on the child
this situation could also violate privacy rights of the minor in the picture if she does not/ did not consent to the publishing of the pictures

you need a persons permission to publicize pictures of them somewhere...

also it is possible with sertain programs to un-censor photos that are posted from the web
because tehere are programs, and hackers that can actually trace the picture to its original source where it is un-censored...

Yes it is because it is still a child posing nude regardless of censorship its illegal to take pictures of a naked child.

Big, big crime!

Big, big trouble, too.

My suggestion is to stay away from your friend because you could have serious 'aiding and abetting' charges drawn against you as well.

This is serious, and not to be taken lightly.
