As a west-European nation that was once under nazi-occupation, The Netherlands has more than its share of museums, monuments and memorial sites. The most well-known of course, is the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
Westerbork (a small town in the east of the Netherlands) is less well-known, but acquired its local infamy as a transit camp for places like Dachau and Auschwitz.
Almost every Dutch war museum and many local history museums have a section devoted to the holocaust.

Every year, the Dutch commemorate the victims of WWII on the fourth of May. Should you be in the Netherlands around that time, you'll be able to attend one of the many ceremonies that are held on that day.

Of course, there's a lot more to see. The official tourist authority website is as good a starting point as any.

Finally, Amsterdam is not only the capital of the Netherlands and -let's face it- a bit of a tourist trap, but it also has a very rich Jewish history which can be experienced in the Jewish Historical Museum, which IMHO is -although relatively small- one the best museums in our country.

Hope you enjoy your stay!

Hi,

You have to visit a town called Volendam. Everything there is Old Fasion Dutch. If you go shopping in Amsterdam, visit the Albert Kuijp Markt. Everything is very cheap there.
And if you are not shy, take a walk in the Red Light District, there so friendly there :P. If you need more information are you need some Dutch Lines, email me, I'll be glad to help you!!
