I have no problem with their safety promising a win! The whole team should feel that they should win every week. If you dont you are a gonna loose!

YES BUT WHEN YOU RUN YOUR MOUTH AS A VERY ARROGANT PLAYER WHO HAS NOT THAT MUCH EXPERIENCE HE BETTER BE READY TO BACK IT UP. AGAINST A TEAM LIKE THE PATRIOTS WHO IS ABOUT 85 % VETERAN PLAYERS BACKING UP A REMARK LIKE THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE AND THE PATRIOTS SHOWED HIM

1. You make the guaranty to your teammates in the locker room before the game and during practices the week before, not to Stephen A. Smith on ESPN.
2. You then do not embellish your public guaranty on national television by stating affirmatively that the Bengals receivers are better than Moss, Stallworth and Welker of the Patriots.
3. If you do either of 1 or 2, you had better be one of the best defensive backs ever to play the game, not Anthony Smith, an obscure player who was torched tonight.

he can guarantee whatever he wants, he just needs to realize a few things:

a) he is a nobody. when i heard Anthony Smith guaranteed a win over NE, my first reaction was "who's that?"
b) he's talking about the most potent offense in recent (or all-time) NFL history. and you're a team that got beat by the Jets.
c) the Pats don't need extra motivation, and regularly torch GOOD DBs- and again, you're a nobody.
and d) the odds of looking stupid were far greater than the odds of looking like a genius. but obviously, he's not smart enough to realize that either.

Everyone should think they are going to win every time they step on the field. You dont have to go announce it though. that is just someone trying to draw attention to himself.
