select a good pool contractor and let them do what they do best...due to all the codes, inspections, electricity running in water,,plumbing running under the pool,,,the diggers the plaster guys the dump trucks the backhoe the underground gas and exsisting water& sewer lines you have to avoid ,the changing rules and regulations of the county ..not to mention the equipment ,,,pumps.. cleaners... filter.. timers.. remotes heaters .and on and on ...its not as easy as one might think...all has to be done in a certain order and by people that can be held accountable in case something goes wrong....and something always goes wrong even with the best of them.....theres ways to cut corners but in the end it costs twice as much....call around to a few pool builders and have them come out and give there input ...you dont have to hire them but you will get a idea of what all is involved...i know of great pool guy,,,,capital pools...rick randel ...been in the business since he was a kid...knows his stuff... above ground? Get it super level. In ground check for utilities, is there rock in the ground? Can you remove it or will you have to blast? If you are going to be doing a lot of diving, make it deep! If you are going to swim and play make it from 6' down to 3' with wide steps in the shallow end.
