The Petronas Towers are the 'tallest', but the question asks for the largest which is volume. The Great Wall of China has greater volume, hence is the largest. On another note, the Petronas Towers are the tallest buildings, but NOT the tallest man made structure. The CN Tower in Toronto is still 100 meters taller than Petronas.

Well it depends on how you look at it. The Fresh Kills Landfill in New York surpassed the great wall of China in 1991 and has only gotten bigger since then. Tallest point on the east coast as well. Interesting, no?

It depends on whether you're speaking of volume, length, height, or area. In terms of the largest man made area on earth, it is the low lying area of the Netherlands that have been reclaimed from the Sea which means that the usable land is technically man made.
