I started wearing one this season. I was knocked down twice last season by young male boarders, and this past October I went up for the first day of the season and a young man on a snowboard knocked me off my feet and his board hit my spine. I ended up in the ER for spinal x-rays. It isn't me that I'm worry about with an injury, it is the other idiots up there riding out of control with no regard for anyone else's safety. If they knock you into a tree and you don't have a helmet on, it might be the last day you ever ride a snowboard.
Go into the medical clinic at the mountain and ask them what the most common snowboard injuries are... I had a friend in there one night and the doctor said that if people wore wrist guards and helmets they wouldn't have anything to do up there.
It just doesn't make a lot of sense NOT to wear one. They are not expensive, they are warm, and many even have speakers so you can have your tunes while you ride. Many of them today are very lightweight. I have a Giro Fuse and it is so light I can't even tell I have it on.
I'll be wearing one from now on.. and also an impact vest with spinal protection.

Yes, I wear one.
The only time I might go without is when there is like two feet of new powder. Still, I could crash into a tree or something, so I should probably wear one even then.
I didn't used to wear one, but then I got one too many concussions. Its just not worth ruining my brain over.
I spend time in the park, do big backcountry jumps, and ride fast enough that catching my back edge would hurt my head pretty bad. I've been knocked out a few times, once even with a helmet.
Btw, it is my pet peeve when people say, "I don't wear one because I am so good that I never fall" Those people are such freaking gapers. Just because you can make it down open runs without crashing doesn't make you "so good"
The people who are actually good crash all the time. They are always pushing themselves, and jumping and hitting rails. Watch a snowboard video, and you will see how the truly good people crash a lot. Shaun White, Travis Rice, and Jeremy Jones all crash.
Point being, if you don't crash, you actually aren't that good. You are just another gaper going down the open runs talking trash even though you suck.
If people talk trash about you because you wear a helmet, they are probably just those gapers I just described. Don't worry about what they say.
And just because they are all geared up, that doesn't mean they are good. I see people all the time all geared up who suck.
By the way, Shaun White always wears a helmet. And he is pretty damn good. I guarantee he is better than "Mr. I am too good to bother with a helmet because I never crash" right above me.

Most of the people I board with including myself wear helmets (most of the time depending how hard im going to push it that day) all of us are good but not pros we are park rats mostly...and too be compeltely honest I rarely fall and when i do its cuz i lose balance on a rail but i never bail hard usually just a mis landing or somethinkg but i still wear the helmet cuz u never know what can happen. a lot of people think that if u are seen with a helmet other people will laugh at u and say ur a baby... thats not true... of course there are some stupid people that would think that but for the most part people dont care... most people u see with helmets in the part are acutly really good... so for saftey wear one but if u dont thikn ur gonna fall then dont worry.. but u can eat it whenever take for example my buddy was crusing down a blue course (keep in mind we usually take black dimonds with ease) but he wasnt paying attention and just messing around not concentrating he caught and edge bashed his dome on the ground nad as a result had a nasty concussion.. ever since he always i mean ALWAYS wears a helmet

I should but don't, I will when I am able to do stunts and get speed without falling over but this year I'll be OK. If u plan on doing anything that could hurt u then definitely wear a helmet .. that make u look like u know what your doing anyway.

Yes. I am not a very good snowboarder but I have gotten to the point where I am good enough to go fairly fast. I have hit my head hard on several occasions and i think it is just safer so I wear it.

Sometimes. I should wear one more often though since last year I hit my head pretty hard on the ground after a fall. It made me a bit nervous since on that same day I heard a story about someone who suffered a serious head injury after a fall.

I always wear one - I own one and it would be really stupid to get hurt when the thing was sitting at home.
As a treat, I bought one that has built in speakers (Giro Fuse) and listen to my tiny flash based MP3 player while I ride.
Good Luck
