You call to complain about a service or to get your money back on something and you get a foriegn person speaking in what may or not be English. Do you think it is because they think you will get disgusted and just give up.

I thought so the other day but realized that it was because if it was an after hours call it was sent to a different service. When i called during normal business hours they explained that to me. A cheaper cost than to have the company have a 24 hour service the tech told me. And that was from AT&T. Remain patient though because it will be documented that you lost your temper and were rude. I work in a Customer Service center and see that daily.

In my opinion, yeah I think they do. What's going on is outsourcing...they'll work MUCH cheaper overseas than they will here so the companies just forward your call to them. It's so frustrating sometimes that it makes you want to crawl through the phone and hurt somebody. Outsourcing is never ok, but if they're going to do it anyways, PLEASE make sure they speak English! (This is to you Verizon and Dell)

No, it's because "call centers" in foreign countries can be run much more cheaply than in the USA. The companies save money by outsourcing to the lowest bidder.

No I don't think they do it on purpose, but I understand your frustration. It happens to me quite a lot with credit cards, and paypal, and I need a fix to my problems immediately and I get someone that doesn't speak English very well and they end up not understanding my problem... I usually ask to be transferred to someone else.

It's because people in India will answer a phone for literally pennies a day, whereas people in the US want $12 an hour with benefits and holidays.

no, I think it's because outsourcing to foreign countries taht aren't unionized saves money, so that when you initially buy the product it's cheaper. Unfortunately, you pay in the long run when you cna't get help from customer service!
Buy American, buy union-made.

No, you are going to get that because some company thought it would save them money to out source that job to India or the Phillipines.

No, it's because it's cheaper for the companies to send their customer service calls to foreign countries.

i believe that it is because there is a lower wage that companies can pay foreign workers, and so to save costs, they route your calls to like india or wherever. also, none of us is important enough to require someone who can speak english well...
