Slave trade? How did traders corral, capture, or convince Africans to get on the boats?

If the culture there was primitive, I would think it'd just take one person to get captured and everyone would run. Would they catch them with guns? How did they get the huge numbers of slaves over the the US?

Slave traders often paid rival tribal leaders to capture them.

Slave traders bought them from various tribal leaders who had captured prisoners in battle with rival tribes. They may have been primitive by comparison but boy they knew where there was a quick buck to be made. Naturally the Slave Traders' agents all carried guns and whips and would kill any slaves who resisted capture.

there you have three..and I'll make it four.....answers to the question that is glossed over in history. The slave traders never conquered one square foot of Africa. Just about 100% of Africans sold to the traders,(who then sold them to the slave ship operators) were captured by other Africans. They were prisioners of war, rivals to the chiefs within their clan or country, or criminals....

but, you say, that isn't the picture I have of white slavers roaming through Africa and rounding up the blacks like, say, the Germans rounded up the Jews......

They have been captured via rival tribes to sell to the Europeans. that's basically yet another case of white adult adult males getting somebody to their jobs for them. they had to apply somebody to seize the individuals that they used to artwork their land for them. Then while they wished consumer-friendly human rights, the slaves have been instructed to pass lower back domicile. exchange the Africans to Mexicans and you have a extra present day version of the comparable laziness.
