I live in the UK and I was 11 years of age at the time (I'm 17 now). To be honest, I really can't remember what I was doing because I was so young that I didn't even know there were such buildings as the Twin Towers (which is quite pathetic lol). But.. I think I remember a little bit of what I was doing at the time - first plane hit tower at 8.46am in NYC so that would be 1.46pm here.. date was September 11 so I think I was at school at the time. There was one thing I remember though - that after school I was playing outside with a few friends and heard my mum saying something about planes hitting towers but that's all I can remember and because I was young at the time I didn't really take much notice of it. These last few weeks though I have grown and grown and watched more videos and information about 9/11 than I thought I would ever do - seeing the planes hit the towers from a distance doesn't look very terrifying but because the towers were actually skyscrapers and hit a height of over 1,300 feet I can imagine myself inside as every ceiling slammed together collapsing from a height. All those people from floors 80 and above had no chance of escape :-(. Thinking back--I was in school doing my things when a nation was under attack and people jumping from the very top of the tower. R.I.P all those people who were killed.

I was at work. One of my co-workers came in and said she'd heard a plane had crashed into a building in NYC. She pulled down a little B&W TV we have in our break-room and we watched. At the time, only one of the towers had been hit. We thought it was only an accident and no one was saying what kind of plane it was yet. While we stood watching the news, we saw the second plane hit. Everybody in our office was glued to that little B&W screen - and then we saw the towers start to fall.
When I was driving home, people were actually starting to LINE UP at gas stations, because the rumor was it was Saudi Arabians and we would soon be at war.

I used to have really long hair, and I'd have my mom brush it in the morning -- I was in 3rd grade -- and I was standing in the middle of the kitchen with her behind me combing my hair and the exact minute that it happened I passed out. For no reason at all. I just fainted, a few seconds before my dad called out from the next room when it first came on the news.

getting ready for my first day at a new school.
my mother hadn't told me what happened because she thought i was too young, but when i got there everyone was talking about some tragedy that had happened and I felt so lost. People were crying and others were just... hardly even there. I felt so lost. I didn't find out until the end of the day what had happened.

I was in the 4th grade and our teachers were freaking out but wouldn't tell us what was going on. Then a student saw it on TV by accident and they were forced to tell us.
At the time I was very ignorant of the whole situation, but I was terrified when I walked home from school that day.

I was at work unloading a truck, and the truck driver told me what happened. At first, I just thought a single engine plane crashed into the world trade center by accident, but then when another plane crashed, then I knew it wasn't an accident.

Since I rarely watch TV or the news, I found out about it several hours later when my husband( now ex) phoned me from the Air Force base to tell me the base was going to red security alert status and being locked down. When I asked him why, he was flabberghasted that I had no clue yet.
The " Pull your head out" sign lit up over my head.

I was in high school - I still remember my math teacher didn't talk about it or want to turn on the TV - but of course in my next class, American History, we spent the whole time watching TV.

I was in second grade. The principal told all of the teachers for third grade and up to turn on the television, but my dumbass teacher decided to turn on our television, and scar us for the rest of our lives. I live in Alexandria, VA (about 7 miles from the pentagon) and there was smoke in the sky. All of the children were getting picked up early, and none of the students had any idea why. My mom picked me up, and told me that a plane went into the pentagon. My dad worked in the pentagon. We stayed up all night, telling ourselves that he was just stuck in horrible traffic. We waited all of the next day as well. Then we realized. He was gone. LillyLove♥.
