A true friendship that can't be broken or replaced by anyone else. That's really the true love - a flexible love that can be bent but not broken. Someone who loves you for who you are, and can forgive the faults. Someone who stands by you when you need them, and gives you a kick in the a*s when you need that too. Intimate relationships are great, but they can be replaced when the next chemical reaction comes along, for either you or the other. But a true friendship can't ever be replicated.

I think the intimate relationship with a spouse. It's not that I take my friends for granted, but I don't spend a lot of time worrying about friendships dissolving. I would really love to have a long-lasting, intimate relationship with someone, however.

I'm going to go with the intimate relationship because that's normally the person that becomes your best friend overtime. The best of both worlds.

To me, the best kind of relationship is an intimate one that does not end in divorce or breaking up!

I'd pick marriage - which goes with the 2nd option you mentioned. Marriage has the first option in it also.

no-strings-attached, friends-with-benefits relationships, of course!!
but they hardly ever work because someone's ALWAYS stupid enough to develop feelings...
