i predict anthony smith will never make another guarantee like this again..for those of you who say its no big deal and people make guarantees all the time...how often do they do it against a team that is undefeated at week 14??? THATS why its a big deal idiots!

hey HUNTRX, did you actually HEAR what Smith said to the radio station. The WHOLE THING. 'cause if you did you wouldn't be saying this now. Smith did use the word "IF" several times through the course of that radio interview. ie. IF we can play well....if we win....if we can cover. This whole thing was media driven and was full of half-truth's. if this is what is needed for the mighty Patriots to get up for a game, they may be in trouble. (OK not really, but some cleverly edited radio interview had them foaming at the mouth today ) Not to professional.

I'm a Pats fan, and while I did love the fans chanting "GUARANTEE!!" at the 2 min warning, the truth is, the press shredded his quote in order to sell their media.
He qualified the "guarantee" six ways to Sunday (no pun in intended), and the press left all of it out. Kind of weak, but bottom line, he flapped his gums out of turn, and paid for it. That's why you keep your mouth shut and let your play do the talking.

I don't know why everyone makes such a big deal about it. Everyone makes guarantees and they aren't always kept. Honestly if you really are a true competitor that's what should be coming out of everyone's mouth, it's a sign of confidence in your own team. Unfortunately for him he didn't play his part.
-Whatshappenin has it right. The media made this a bigger deal than it is.

Smith didnt exactly do a Joe Namath guarantee. Smith basically said if we play like we should, then we will win. the media is blowing this up too much

Smith was another victim of the Darkside. He is weak in the Force.

Not only is he not good as a fortune teller, he is also not good at his day job.
He virtually ate Randy Moss' dust. Guarantee the Steelers' win? He cannot even guarantee his performance.

If he's going to make guarantees he needs to at least hold up his end of the game. He didn't.
