I have not heard about dew point inversion.Air temperature generally decreases with height in the troposphere. So, 'temperature inversion' has some meaning as sometimes inversion occurs near the ground. In fact temperature inversion occurs in the stratosphere.
But dew point fluctuates as you go up.The value will be different in different layers. So the value will be more or less as per the moisture content.90 percent of the water vapour is confined to the troposphere only and the moisture content may fluctuate within this layer. So ,dew point inversion has no meaning as far as I know.
In fact water vapour is the most variable constituent of the air.

When looking at what you call a Skew t Log-P diagram which plots Temp. and Dew Point at given pressure, a dew point inversion is when u have a major increase or decrease of dew point temperature over a given area of pressure.
