In the state of NY a criminal probation may end without restitution being paid.

Happened to me 2 criminals owed me and all I got was a judgement that lasted 10 years never recieved a dime. the was told by the D.A's office of Nassau it is up to the victim to collect after the probation is compeleted.

Because your state evidently believes that the criminal process only goes so far, and then civil remedies are your problem. I AM sympathetic to your plight, I am just trying to answer the question.

Restitution must first be performed before the criminal will be granted probation because if the convict disappead, the victim will be unjustly divested of the right to reparation.

In my state they don't.
