i see them in overdramatic laundry commercials and i just read an answer about someone using a clothesline. if you use them, are they only for your unwashables? i'd just hang mine inside if that was the case. i don't think i'd be brave enough to leave them outside in the elements.

Yes In the summer we still use a cloths line. Nothing matches the fresh smell of sun dried cloths softened by a summer breeze.

I don't use a clothesline - I use a drying rack in my house for my "unwashables".
However, my grandmother does use a clothesline. She has two of them actually - one outside in the backyard and one in the basement (near the washing machines). She uses the one outside (during the summer) for clothes that can't go in the dryer (certain materials, etc) and this way they air dry and have a nice summer breeze scent. The one in the basement is all year round for the delicates or as you put it "unwashables" and it is also used in the winter time for other articles of clothing as well.

I used to have one of those clotheslines that has a pole in the middle, kind of like an umbrella. I used it to dry sheets and towels because I liked the way it made them smell nice and fresh. But that was back in the days when I had time, lol.

I use one in the summer. It's better for the environment and that way the dryer doesn't heat up the house. We hang up anything that is appropriate for the neighbors to see (don't worry, my bras are inside) or something that doesn't need to be dried (like socks). It actually gives them an awesome, almost crisp, feeling. I rarely use it for my towels, because I like those soft. Although it's hardly what you see on commercials with the beautiful field of daisies behind my beautiful white linen sheets.

I hang clothes on a rack inside my laundry room, but I wouldn't put a clothesline outside. That would remind me too much of my country relatives in the Old World.

Clothesline - in the basement - for "unwashables". In my "younger" days I hung plenty of clothes outside to dry when I lived in the country.

Hi, I don't use a clothesline. However, certain stuff can't go in the washing machine and have to be hung to dry, we usually hang those over the shower rod to dry.

Sure but not in the winter. Living in the country its no big deal. Don't know about the city with all the grime and grit.

No. If you hang anything up outside here in florida it gets all musty because of the moisture in the air. My grandma used to use one though, but she took a step into reality and got rid of it.

No, I/we use a dryer. A "green" dryer, if that helps. Laundry is a chore that has to get done, and the quicker the better.
