To any team looking to acquire Johan Santana or any big name player, what prospects (whether they have major league experience or are strictly minor leaguers at this point) are you, as a fan, willing to part with and who do you refuse to give up?
Here in Boston, I would agree to giving up guys like Bucholtz, Lester, Lowrie or Masterson, but would be very disappointed if Jacoby Ellsbury is on the list.
To Yankee fans, getting Santana is great, but would you be happy with giving up Hughes or Chamberlain to make it happen?

The question becomes, " are you willing to give up some of your future to win now?". If the answer is "yes" than the team getting Santana will have to part with some solid prospects. If the answer is "no" than the Twins will move Santana to another team that is willing to include top prospects in the deal. It is not reasonable to expect that three very good prospects in Joba, Ian, and Phil will be able to carry the load in 2008 and if the Yankees want to give themselves a chance they are going to have to bring in a star pitcher, or two, to get the job done. It is not too late and the Yankees have some important decisions to make if they want to get back into the mix for Santana.

being a tigers fan i have recently parted with our franchises TOP prospects. if a similar deal with the same prospects would have been constructed to get santana i would be willing IF we knew we could resign him. if a team unloads their future and can't keep him its all for not.
remember, the man is 28 and has many many years left on him.

jacoby is absolutly amazing
he really shined during the world series
i would really hate to loose him... i htink they should trade coco instead becuase jacobys better and (i like him better haha )
but i odnt relaly think the deal is gonna be made cuz they prob want lester and ellsbury, not jsut one
i think the 2007 team was jsut fine <3 they should keep it that way.. except eric gagne... but hes gone anyways
