Do find out what it is.
Any hint of fire is "something dangerous".
Be mindful that a "burning wires" smell is really
burnt plastic. Check around the stove and other
heat sources for any plastic that might be causing
the smell. Check the oven and broiler for any
plastic that might have strayed in.
Look for burnt electric cords and plugs.

First i would unplug everything in the kitchen and see what happens. Then you could try turning off the circuit breakers to your kitchen and see if the smell goes away. That would tell you if the problem is in your wiring. In the meantime make sure your smoke detectors are working. Another thing to look at would be your garbage disposal?

Any unknown burning smell in a house is a danger. If you cannot locate kill the power to your house from the main breaker until you know. Then call an electrician. Better safe than sorry.

It is probably something behind the walls that are still being powered.

You should have that check by a pro.
