f(x) = (x+3)/sqrt(x+11)
The domain is (-11,inf) because -11 would make the denominator equal to zero, and anything less than that would make the answer imaginary.

f(3) = (3+3)/sqrt(3+11) = 3sqrt(14)/7 =~ 1.6

Since you have sqrt x+11 and you can't do the sqrt of a negative, and it's on the bottom of a fraction so it can't be zero, x must be > -11. That's the domain. And then plug in 3 for x getting
(3+3) on top and sqrt 11+3 on bottom so 6/√14

The domain is all real numbers (the graph will eventually pass over all values of the x axis). f(3) is the same thing as plugging in a 3 for x (3+3 / [root] 3+11). This simplifies to 6/(square root)14.
