Anytime I watch the news, all they talk about is politicians trying to win over Iowa. What's the deal??

that's the state that the company that manufacture voting machines operates in along with Florida lobbied by congressman Tom Feeney...their goal is to rig the state nominations in order to effect the national outcome in favor of the secular right.

Iowa and a couple of other state primary elections pick the presidential candidates for the rest of America. What the majority of Americans think or want doesn't matter. Even if the majority got to pick the Presidential nominees, the electoral college elects the Prez, not the popular vote. That's why Gore won the popular vote, but Bush became Prez, since he won the electoral college vote. We're a republic, it's not the greatest political system, but it's the one we've got.

Because whoever wins Iowa gets alot of attention, thus making alot of people around the county vote for the candidate who wins there. Same goes for FL, SC, NH, etc. Iowa is the first state to vote in the Primaries (first week of Jan).

Iowa determines the outcome of the elections. Whoever wins in Iowa will more likely win the Presidency.

Like others have said, Iowa gets first pick in the nation. But it's a caucus we have here, not a primary. A little different.

State with the early primaries (e.g. Iowa and New Hampshire) get disproportianate attention because many contributors wait until they see who has a shot at winning the primaries before they decide who to contribute to.

Essentially only the votes in certain "swing" votes count. Certain counts are almost always in favor of Democrat or Republican. The swing states are the ones that make the actual difference.

Iowa is one of those states
