It's my first semester in university. unforunately, i've done quite poorly due to health reasons..... it seems that ill be failing some courses... im wondering if it says F on the transcript or have the actual grade like 50 or something like that.... also, if i retake the course and get another grade. will this grade erase the past one?

most transcripts list the letter grade - it will show "F"

most colleges do not allow "retake for replacement" but some do. Check with your college about the specifics of retaking a class. Usually, if you retake a class, both grades remain on your transcript and are used to calculate your GPA.

Your greater worry right now is that you say "failing some courses" - if you're in your first semester then you can expect by failing some courses to be placed on academic probation. What you need to do next semester is to take a maximum class load of "easy A" classes whether you need those classes or not - you will need to recover your GPA to avoid academic suspension.

In the future, if you are very sick in a semester, drop your classes before you fail them. If this is a problem that's going to recur, see the folks in student disability services so that you can develop a plan to overcome your challenges and limitations.

Good luck.

If you retake the class, you can replace your grade with a better one. Looks better on a transcript. However, the GPA you received this semester is still counted towards your overall college GPA.

You transcript will practice the failed and withdrawn classes alongside with the retaken grades for any and all classes which you circulate into your next college. a ability corporation pondering your transcript will seem at the two the reliable and the undesirable. they would be chuffed to be sure you do properly with your substantial, yet in addition they're going to question why the style in grades. starting to be a CPA isn't any hardship-free activity.
