My kids are 24 & 19 and I spend about $300 each. Well, the youngest one got married so now I have another kid. So it is getting expensive. When I have grandkids the kids will get less, maybe one thing. I usually try to get them one thing like around $100 or so and then the rest smaller. So far this year I am at around $100 - $120 each and I think the rest will be cash or gift certificates, unless I can come up with something else.
And my oldest has a birthday 9 days before Christmas and I have to get her something for that, too.
When they were young I used to get by really cheap, I would even buy stuff at rummage sales in the summer. Once I sent in Spaghetti-Os labels and got them free Spahetti-Os bowls.

I spend a 100 to 150 each on gifts I end up having four gifts each, but I only have two boys. So the amount might be differnt if I had more or less kids. I never spend more then 50 dollars a gift. They don't play with them that long to spend that much on a gift. ( one of the gifts is from santa) ( Were also a one income family)

Well, we usually spend about 200 to 250 each. And that is with finding good sales. BUT.....that includes winter clothes they do not get for school shopping. Undies and socks, new shoes. Mittens, hats, boots. And, they get NOTHING else throughout the year except one gift on their birthday. About a 40 dollar gift then. That's it for the year for them. We simply do not have the money to get things throughout the year. It only kinda sucks for one of my kids. Her birthday is Jan. 6. So close after Christmas. And trust me, if you don't get her gift when Christmas shopping, it won't be there 2 weeks later! It's amazing how everything is just gone so soon after! So I don't feel guilty one bit for spending alittle more at that time as they get nothing in between.

I spend about $75 and get them mostly things they need and educational books/toys that will teach them what they are ready to learn at this time in their development. I don't buy Barbies and a gazillion toy trucks and expensive train sets and stuff like that. It's just not worth it because kids break stuff. Any junk like toys that they do have - I let friends give me or find it at a garage sale for $1. I try to get them focused on giving during the holidays so we do that Christmas shoebox thing for a needy child and we talk about what Christmas points to and how it's not supposed to be all about them and what they want and whine for - but what they can give and do for others. With kids - I've found - they are never too young to be taught a lifestyle devoid of consumerism and greed and full of generosity and care. We try to be in the habit of nursing home visitations throughout the year - with a special time of singing at Christmas.

I have five and usually spend around $100 on each. Whether it's the older ones asking for mp4 players or the younger ones wanting a new bicycle, it seems to work well at $100.

I only have 1 child, and we typically spend around $100-$150... Except we went really wild this year and she's getting totally spoiled. Somewhere in the neighborhood of $800-$900.
Unless you're talking about other people's kids, then I generally limit it to $20-$25.

My parents said they generally spend $300 on each child. Except I was in Chicago last weekend with them and we took care of A LOT of christmas shopping (except for what they are getting me) and my dad said this year they have already spent a lot more on each kid. It kinda depends on what you want.. if you just want clothes or whatever they usually stick to around 300 but like last year I wanted to golf clubs and they were like $600 but that was my birthday and christmas comined because my birthday is a week before christmas.
Anyway, my parents said they will NEVER spend over 500 on each kid for only christmas but if its christmas and birthday they will. Its kinda confusing.
happy holidays :)

I try to stay under $75 per kid. But then spend about another $50 for gifts all the kids can share, like board games and craft stuff.
