Im 18 and my parents say that my room smells kinda funky so i want to make it smell better. I dont want it to smell like potpourri or anything spicy. I just want it to smell fresh and clean and not girly. Open to suggestions. Thanks

Your room will smell better once you find the source of the "funky" smell.

Make sure you don't have any dirty clothes pushed under the bed, in the closet or pushed into your bureau drawers.

Look for any plates or cups left behind from sncks you have eaten in your room.

Once you have found and removed all of the dirty items, you can strip the sheets and blankets off of your bed.

Wash and dry all of the dirty clothing and bed linens, follow the directions on the clothing and laundry detergent bottles, small loads, don't overload the washer and dryer. Ask your Mom or Dad about the correct way to wash and dry everything if you do not know how to do it.

While you are waiting for your laundry to be washed and/or dried; you can dust and vacuum your room. Open one of the windows a bit and let some fresh air in, this will help to keep it cleaner smelling and you should air out your room every couple of days, depending on the weather. If you have a thermostat in your room for heat, lower it while you air out the room, so you are not wasting heat.

Once you are sure that everything has been cleaned and put away, you can use Febreeze to lightly spray around the room, there are several scents, some that are a citrus that are not too girly.

Once you have your room back into a non-funky state, just make sure that you remove all of the possible funky offenders
daily, the dirty clothes, the empty glasses, cups, plates, etc. on a daily basis and change your bed at least once a week and vacuum weekly also.

Your room will be a lot more pleasant for you to be in and for your parents if you keep it in a clean state from now on.

Good luck and have a Merry Christmas.

If it won't let the weather or burglars in, leave a window open a crack. Leave your bedroom door open whenever you can. Wash all the bed linens including the mattress pad. Can your blankets be washed or dry cleaned? Put your shoes near the front door, put all dirty laundry in a laundry hamper near the laundry machine. If room is very small, get a little fan to circulate the air. Empty all garbage daily. Don't eat in your room. Vacuum the floor. Bathe nightly before going to bed (so your sheets will stay clean longer).

It really depends what is making it funky. I'm just guessing.

Make sure you air the room often, Cat litter also absorbs smells, put it in a decorative vase or a candle holder (I swear by this especially in the bathroom) If you want scented rooms try a couple of drops of essential oil on light bulbs - cheaper than buying burners etc.

Clean your room.

Buy yourself a nice smelling candle. (Something you like)

It is probably cold outside... but you'll need to let your room "air out" for a bit. 30 minutes minumum. Lock the room down (close all the windows)... and light your candle.

After an hour it will smell wonderful.

And febreeze all the fabric.

Clean your room, washing walls, ceilings, carpet, curtains, and remove all dirty clothes etc and wash them. Fabrese the shoes. Nothing to smell girly there only fresh.

I am a teenager also. I recommend Febreze. It will smell kind of sweet at first but after just a little bit, it will smell fresh. Works Fantastic!

this is what i sometimes do to deodorize stuffy rooms. Mix one quart brewed Lipton Tea and four tablespoons ReaLemon, strain through a Mr. Coffee Filter, and store in empty spray bottles

I would try to identify what smells funky. Shoes, rug, trash and get rid of it. Then Fabrese it.
