Here's my idea for my room when I was a teen. (I am 32 now)
Paint the entire room white. Then get killer Neon / flourescent / Psychedelic colors. Get a fat brush and dip them in the color of your choice.
Now... DON'T paint... Splatter! It has a really cool effect.
