1.) They tried a similar thing with Prohibition. See how well that worked?
2.) Us smokers will die off without laws, don't worry.

The government already tried doing similar thing with prohibition of alcohol and look what that did! Banning tobacco would just create a whole new black market and alot more criminal activity. Our jails would be filled with smokers leaving no room for the truly guilty. People need to get over the whole smoking issue. As others have said, we should be free to harm ourselves if that is what we want. That is what this country is about. Sure, go ahead and outlaw it in public places, that saves smokers from harming others but there is no need to make this country even one more step closer to a socialist society!

I smoke. I will not stop smoking even if our democratic facade bans it. The federal government has invaded our lives and wiped their feet on the constitution enough as it is. Banning smoking would not do anything other than turning otherwise law abiding citizens into criminals. Our country cannot figure out how to deal with the overload on our prison systems as it is. Why add more? Besides, those of us that smoke could very well end up committing homicide due to our nerves being shot.

Overpopulation is a real problem and both my parents ware heavy smokers, which is what killed them. But they lived well past their life expectancy, which means statistically, smoking, if anything, added many years to their lives. OTOH no one seems to care much about the unbelievable cancer rate in say, Staten Island, or for that matter anything down wind of the Central New Jersey refineries. Or the lives lost driving, or wildlife lost to oil spills. Looks to me as if oil gets a pass, and in fact, lives lost to tobacco, are wildly exaggerated

You see, according to Cocteau's plan I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think; I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech and freedom of choice. I'm the kind of guy likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder - "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecued ribs with the side order of gravy fries?" I WANT high cholesterol. I wanna eat bacon and butter and BUCKETS of cheese, okay? I want to smoke Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section. I want to run through the streets naked with green Jell-o all over my body reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly might feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiener".

Because the government shouldn't ban any products. It should be the consumers choice what they puchase. The government shouldn't be making our choices. They have their hand in too many things now.
What happened to freedom of choice??!!

i hate the smell of cigarettes, they blacken your lungs and ruin your health and i think if the gov't got rid of all tobacco products the world would be a better place [despite the riots and protests..lol]
