It depends on what is causing the congestion generally if the cause is an allergen (dust pollen etc...) and not an infective cause (cold or flu etc...) then antihistamines and cold and flu mediactions are a good remedy for the short term. Also Getting rid of or reducing your exposure to allergens is the best treatment. If it has been 4weeks it is likely you have a mild infection. Antibiotics should help. Natural products such as echinacea, zinc, vit C, ginko, horseraddish etc.. can also help. It is also useful to physiaclly flush out the sinuses with a saline solution. Many chemists stock these and are easy to use. Hope this helps,

The nose and sinuses act as your body's primary air treatment center. Cleansing these moist tissues through nasal/sinus irrigation or steam is one of the best ways to treat many sinus problems.
Steam helps to loosen congestion. Bring a pot of water to boil. Drop in a mint tea bag or two, a few cloves, some rosemary (fresh if you have it). Remove from heat and let stand a few minutes. When the steam is cool enough that it won't scald (but still steamy), drape a towel over your head & over the pan to catch the steam. Inhale deeply through the nose.
Also, get some saline nasal spray from your local drugstore, I use Ocean Nasal Spray, and use it several times a day. It's non-medicated. This spray cleans and moisturizes the nasal passages, and helps reduce congestion. A doctor recommended this to me.
Good luck!

Drinking something hot should help. Take antihithamines. Benadryll is the name brand, but you can get off-brands that have the same active ingredient for a fraction of the price. Check your local Walgreens or Sams club.
Green tea is a good choice. Take a hot shower or inhale steam, a humidifyer could also help.

Nasal decongestants usually work well. Saline is an alternative but requires more frequent use as does the neti pot.
